Under GDPR Article 5(1)(e) and comparable laws, we keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes it was collected, and no longer. The schedule below describes how long each category of data lives on our systems.
Retention schedule
- Account data (email, profile, authentication records): kept while your account is active, plus up to 30 days after deletion to account for backup lag and rollback windows.
- Posts, comments, messages, reels: retained for the life of the account and then purged on the same 30-day schedule after account deletion. Individual items you delete are removed from the live system immediately and from backups within 30 days.
- Payment and payout records: retained for 7 years from the transaction date to comply with United States tax recordkeeping requirements (IRC § 6001 and related regulations).
- Moderation flags (automated or user-submitted reports): retained 90 days or until reviewed, whichever is longer. Items confirmed as violating are logged against the responsible account.
- Preserved evidence (CSAM, terrorist content, imminent-harm reports, serious TOS violations): retained up to 90 days for law enforcement or longer if we receive a valid preservation letter or legal hold, after which the material is purged.
- Server logs (request logs, authentication logs, rate-limit events): 30 days.
- Analytics aggregates(non-personal counts such as daily active users or post volumes): retained indefinitely because they are not personal data.
Your right to deletion
You can delete your account at any time from /settings/delete-account. Deletion erases your profile, posts, comments, messages, media, and linked metadata within the windows above. Some records (such as financial transactions required for tax reporting, and moderation records for banned accounts) are retained for the legally required period but are dissociated from your live identity where possible.
